Eagle Scoutmaster Minute
10/23/2016
Earning the rank of Eagle scout is a major accomplishment. Many boys enter the scouting program and for as many reasons leave at the rank of tenderfoot, 2nd class, 1st class, star, and life. We have heard that one out of 100 scouts will make it to Eagle. I am very proud of you and your accomplishment. I am also very proud of our Troop as we have a much higher rate of boys who reach the rank of Eagle. I believe this to be a great testimony of our boys, our leadership, and the character we instill in our youth.
There are those who say the Eagle rank comes with no magic powers or influence, but I disagree. When you begin applying for college, put it on your application. When you begin sending out resume’s, list it as an accomplishment. Many leaders in education and business were involved with scouting and they know what it takes to become Eagle, even if they themselves did not reach that lofty goal. Not only will it increase your chances at getting an interview, but everything else being equal, it may very well get you the job.
